Winnipeg Jets Prospect Report
Week of February 3, 2014 - February 9, 2014
Scott Kosmachuk, LW - Guelph (OHL)
Simply put, Scott Kosmachuk took over the game on Feb. 4 between the Guelph Storm and Kitchener Rangers. The left winger posted four goals and an assist in a 10‐4 final, marking the second time this season Kosmachuk recorded four goals in a game. His week hardly slowed after that thrashing as the Jets’ third‐round pick followed that contest with a three‐assist effort on Feb. 6 versus Mississauga and a pair of assists on Feb. 7 against Belleville.
Adam Lowry, C – St. John’s IceCaps (AHL)
Adam Lowry is currently showing that he’s fully adjusted to the pro game in his first AHL season in St. John’s. The 6‐foot‐5 centre recently posted a five‐game goal scoring streak from Jan. 31‐Feb. 8 and has 13 points (9G, 4A) in 17 games since the turn of the New Year.
Josh Morrissey, D – Prince Albert Raiders (WHL)
Attempting to stop a free‐fall in the WHL standings, Josh Morrissey and the Prince Albert Raiders went 2‐1‐0 on a recent three‐game homestand. Over those three games the Raiders’ captain Morrissey recorded two goals and four assists. The 18‐year‐old leads all WHL defencemen with 19 goals this season and sits third in points with 51.
Andrew Copp, C – Michigan Wolverines (Big Ten)
Sophomore centre Andrew Copp scored a pair of goals in a slanted 7‐3 win in Penn State on Feb. 7 which extended his team lead in goals scored. Copp has 12 goals in 20 games for the Wolverines and sits second on the team in points with 20. The 19‐year‐old recently wore an ‘A’ for Team USA at the World Junior Championships where he collected five assists in five games.
Nicolas Petan, C – Portland Winterhawks (WHL)
With each week, Nicolas Petan creeps closer to the WHL scoring lead and now sits two points back of Spokane’s Mitch Holmberg. Petan’s damage this past week was five points (3G, 2A) in only two games played. Three of those points came in a 10‐3 win in Tri‐City on Feb. 7 where he scored two while Portland built a 7‐0 lead by the game’s midway point. Petan sits with 91 points (29G, 62A) in 46 games played.
