Five different Jets scored goals on the Tampa Bay Lightning tonight with Evander Kane
, Tim Stapleton
and Dustin Byfuglien
all notching two points each, as the Jets down the Bolts in the MTS Centre 5-2, Monday night.
Steven Stamkos had a goal and an assist in his 25:39 minutes of ice-time in the loss with four shots on net. Martin St.Louis picked up the other goal for the Bolts.
Kane got the Jets on the board first and shut down the Lightning's 3-1-1 trap system as they played catch up for the remainder of the game.
was excellent tonight turning aside 30 of 32 shots on net while Dwayne Roloson was pulled from his goal after four goals on 22 shots. Mathieu Garon stepped in as his relief and kicked away 16 of 17 shots that he faced.

One of the key's to beating this Lightning team is to not let them score first.

was able to just keep the puck inside the zone and sent a perfect pass onto Kane's stick in the slot. Kane made no mistake and fired a hard snap shot to beat Dwayne Roloson high stick side to make it 1-0. Alexander Burmistrov
was credited with the second helper.
Byfuglien added to the Jets lead at 13:02 as he blasted a slap-shot past Roloson to make it 2-0 Jets. This time it was Kane with a perfect set up for Byfuglien at the right point.
After 20 minutes, the Jets were up 2-0 and the shots were 15-11 for the home team.

set up Flood just inside the blueline who wound up and fired a slapshot through traffic and through the legs of Roloson to make it 3-0 Jets. Bryan Little
picked up the second assist on the Jets third goal of the night.
The Lightning answered quickly as Steven Stamkos found Martin St. Louis at 10:47 to get within a pair. Vincent Lecavalier picked up the second helper on the play.
regained the three goal lead for the Jets just seconds later as Johnny Oduya
dished the puck out from the corner and tossed it on net. Ladd was there at the post to get his stick on it and tap it between the legs of Roloson to make it 4-1.
That was the end of Roloson for the night as Mathieu Garon stepped in after the Jets fourth goal.
Winnipeg as forced to test their penalty kill yet again late in the period as Oduya got the gate for hooking with 3:12 to play. Then, with 2:29 to go, Burmistrov got caught high-sticking on Stamkos which brought on a five-on-three. Pavelec stood on his head as did the rest of the penalty-killers as the Jets closed the door on Stamkos and the Bolts to stay up 4-1 after 40 minutes.
Stapleton added to the Jets lead as he raced down the wing and around the back of the Bolts net. The wrap-around attempt hit Bruno Gervais' foot at the left post and slid past Garon and into the net at 10:04.
Stamkos answered back 22 seconds later as he raced the puck down the ice and into the Jets zone. He danced across the blueline, around his defender and sent a wrist shot through the legs of Pavelec to get his team within three again and pick up his 11th of the season.
Tempers began to flare with some pushing and shoving as time wound down on regulation between the two division rivals. 5-2 was the final at the buzzer. Shots after 60 minutes were 39-32 in favour of the Jets.
