Slater, 28, finished with 12 points (five goals, seven assists) in 36 games this past season. He has appeared in 371 NHL games, all with Atlanta and moved up to fifth place on the Thrashers all-time games played list. Slater also earned his 100th career point (assist) on Dec. 28 at Pittsburgh and contributed with an assist and a plus-four rating against New Jersey on Dec. 18.

This season, he made an impactful donation to Traveler’s Aid of Metro Atlanta, and brought children with cancer to a Thrashers game.  He also participated in a Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless event, in which players sorted food, toys and clothes for homeless families to enjoy during the holiday season. The Lapeer, Michigan, native is actively involved in wounded warriors meet and greets, was a MOvember participant, a contributor to Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation and assisted the Georgia Aquarium in feeding sea life. For the second consecutive season, Slater was named the co-recipient of the 2011 Gilner-Reeves Community Service Award, which is presented annually to the Thrashers player who not only has made an impact on the Atlanta community, but is willing to commit his efforts and talents above and beyond the call of duty.

The King Clancy Memorial Trophy will be presented along with numerous other accolades at the NHL Awards held at the Pearl Concert Theater inside the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada on Wednesday, June 22.
