Winnipeg Jets to play in Young Stars Tournament
Jets to play in Penticton, BC tournament hosted by Vancouver Canucks
The Vancouver Canucks Young Stars Tournament will begin on Sept. 11 featuring a number of notable NHL prospects from the Winnipeg Jets, Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, and San Jose Sharks. The 2010 Young Stars Tournament featured 20 players who dressed in NHL games during the 2010-11 season, including Mikael Backlund, Jordan Eberle, Cam Fowler, Taylor Hall, Magnus Paajarvi, Chris Tanev and Aaron Volpatti. Expected to suit up for the Winnipeg Jets for the first time in the Young Stars Tournament are 2011 draft picks Mark Scheifele, Adam Lowry, Zachery Yuen, and Austen Brassard.
The Jets will play their first game of the tournament on Sept. 12 versus the San Jose Sharks beginning at 6:00 p.m. The Jets are also scheduled to play the Edmonton Oilers on Sept. 13 and the Vancouver Canucks on Sept. 15. Game dates, times and opponents subject to change.
