The Winnipeg Jets are pleased to announce they have agreed to terms with forward Jason Jaffray. As per club policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Jaffray, 30, played a shortened 2010-11 season with the AHL’s Manitoba Moose. Missing most of the year due to injury, Jaffray joined the Moose in March and played in six regular season games where he scored two points (1g, 1a). In 14 Calder Cup playoff games last year, Jaffray scored nine points (3g, 6a) and helped the Moose reach Game 7 of the North Division Finals.
The Olds, AB native has a lengthy history with the Moose as he sits second on the former AHL team’s all-time scoring list with 235 points (96g, 139a) in 269 games played. He was named the team’s Most Valuable Player and Most Popular Player in the 2006-07 season when he led the Moose in scoring and goals with 81 points and 35 goals. He was named the winner of the team’s Unsung Hero Award in 2005-06.
Jaffray has appeared in 36 career NHL games with Vancouver and Calgary. In that span he’s scored 10 points (4g, 6a) and 33 penalty minutes. His most successful season in the NHL was 2007-08 when he played in 19 games with the Canucks and collected six points (2g, 4a).
