Fans honor Jets' new owners during anthem
And in the second preseason game played at the MTS Centre, the fans in attendance used a unique opportunity to pay tribute to the folks who brought the Jets back to Winnipeg.
During the singing of "O' Canada" prior to the drop of the puck, fans singing along yelled extra loud when the line "true north" was sung.
True North Sports & Entertainment is the company that owns the Jets.
"I noticed that," said Mark Chipman, True North's Chairman of the Board. "That was very neat. Somebody mentioned something about that the other day, and I wasn’t sure what they were talking about. I get it now. That’s a very nice gesture."
Evander Kane scored twice in a three-goal third-period outburst as the Jets beat the Carolina Hurricanes, 3-1.
