The Winnipeg Jets today announced they have signed goaltender David Aebischer to an AmericanHockey League contract and assigned him to the St. John’s IceCaps of the AHL.
Aebischer, 33, appeared in two preseason games with the Winnipeg Jets where he recorded a 3.00 goals against average and 0.897 save percentage.
Last season, the Fribourg, Switzerland native spent the season with HC Lugano of the Swiss-A League playing in 36 games where he accumulated a 12-24-0 record, 3.10 goals against average and 0.866 save percentage. He has appeared in a career-total 214 NHL games between Phoenix, Montreal and Colorado for an all-time record of 106-74-17, 2.52 goals against average and 0.912 save percentage.
