Close to 70,000 already in random draw program
Winnipeg Jets also announce cancellation of season ticket accounts
“By having a random draw, we are ensuring that all fans have a fair chance to attend a Winnipeg Jets game this season,” said Jim Ludlow, President & Chief Executive Officer of True North Sports & Entertainment Ltd. “With such an overwhelming demand and such a limited supply, we are now convinced that the draw process was the best way to divide the remaining tickets and guarantee an unbiased process in doing so.”
There will be approximately 600 tickets available for each Winnipeg Jets game held at MTS Centre this season. Fans are still able to sign up for an online ballot at www.winnipegjets.com which will be entered into the draw. Each month, fans will be randomly chosen and provided a unique password they will then use on a private page at www.ticketmaster.ca to purchase seats. Only the selected accounts will have access to available tickets. Draw winners will be given the opportunity to purchase two tickets. These tickets can be split up as one pair to one game or two singles to two games. Ballot entry will remain open throughout the season. Fans DO NOT have to re-enter each month. Winning names will not be re-entered into the draw once they have been selected. Any unclaimed seats after the random drawing program period will be offered to the Waiting List members, then open to the general public.
The Winnipeg Jets will be launching Jets SeatExchange. Jets SeatExchange is an online service that enables safe and secure fan-to-fan ticket sales transactions. It is the only official and authorized re-sale site of the Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club and it works in conjunction with the NHL TicketExchange platform. Jets fans will be able to view and purchase tickets by visiting www.winnipegjets.com/seatexchange.
The Winnipeg Jets have also confirmed that a number of season ticket accounts have been cancelled to date for activity regarding the re-sale of tickets contrary to the provisions of account holders Ticket Purchase Agreement with the Jets and Provincial law in Manitoba. The Jets will continue to actively investigate and monitor the seller market to ensure that tickets are being sold in accordance with ticket agreements and local law. Tickets being sold on a contrary basis may be subject to cancellation and penalties. At the same time, buyers should be aware of the potential risks of buying in the secondary markets which include the purchase of tickets at highly inflated prices and the risk of purchasing fraudulent or non-existent tickets.
“In order to protect buyers and sellers, the organization is monitoring the market on a daily basis,” said Ludlow. “Although secondary sites may be used, we are encouraging all sellers and buyers to use the Jets SeatExchange as it is the only authorized re-sale service for Winnipeg Jets tickets. The tickets on this website are guaranteed not to be fraudulent and cannot be sold for greater than the posted game-day sale price.”
