Jets re-assign Mark Scheifele to Barrie Colts

The Winnipeg Jets today announced they have re-assigned Mark Scheifele to the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League.
Taken by the Jets with the seventh overall pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Scheifele, 18, played in seven games with the Winnipeg Jets this season. He scored his first NHL goal on Oct. 19 at Toronto.
Last season, Scheifele played his OHL rookie year with the Barrie Colts where he led all rookies with 53 assists. The Kitchener, ON native also added 22 goals for 75 points in 66 games played. After the junior season, Scheifele also competed at the Under-18 World Championships where he led all Team Canada scorers with six goals in seven tournament games. Scheifele was invited and took part in Hockey Canada’s National Junior Team Development Camp in August. He was one of 46 players invited to the camp that took place in Edmonton and Fort McMurray, AB.
