The second annual Mike Keane Celebrity Hockey Classic, in support of the Winnipeg Jets True North Foundation and Continuity Care, will take place on Thursday, November 10, 2011.

The tournament kicks off with A Draft Day Experience, on Wednesday, November 9, 2011, where each team will choose an NHL superstar to play on their team. Draft positions will be determined by the total dollars raised by each team. Proceeds from the event will be split between the Winnipeg Jets True North Foundation and Continuity Care.

After an evening spent getting to know their celebrity teammate, teams will hit the ice on November 10th at the MTS IcePlex. With 18 teams playing three games each, the MTS IcePlex will be open to the public for viewing all day on Thursday, November 10, 2011. Tickets for the event are $10.00.

“This classic allows everyday hockey enthusiasts to team up with former NHL Greats to play hockey and raise funds for various Children’s Charities in Manitoba,” says Dwayne Green, Executive Director, Winnipeg Jets True North Foundation. “We are extremely grateful to be a part of such a unique event that has so many local ties to Winnipeg.”

The list of celebrity hockey players for the 2011 Celebrity Hockey Classic include Mike Keane, Dale Hawerchuk, Steve Shutt, Lanny McDonald, Marcel Dionne, Brad Park, Brian Trottier, Billy Smith, Thomas Steen, Keith Tkachuk, Dave Ellett, Charlie Simmer, Brian Bellows, Dean Kennedy, Dave Babych, Dave Manson, Laurie Boschman, Brian Skrudland and Rod Black.
