IceCaps sign Garth Murray to AHL Contract

The St. John’s IceCaps today announced they have released forward Garth Murray from his professional tryout contract and signed him to an American Hockey League contract.
Murray, 29, has played in 19 games with the IceCaps this season collecting six points (1g, 5a) and 25 penalty minutes. He has played in 411 career games in the AHL with the Hartford Wolf Pack, Hamilton Bulldogs, San Antonio Rampage, Abbotsford Heat and Manitoba Moose where he’s scored 120 points (52g, 68a) and recorded 913 penalty minutes.
The Regina, SK native has played 116 NHL games with the New York Rangers, Montreal Canadiens, Florida Panthers, and Phoenix Coyotoes. In the NHL, Murray has scored 10 points (8g, 2a) and recorded 131 penalty minutes. Murray was originally drafted by the New York Rangers in the third round, 79th overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
