Prospect Profile: Carl Klingberg
SOG: 86 | PIM: 12 | +/-: +2
The Atlanta Thrashers selected Klingberg in the second round, (34th overall), of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
Klingberg made his NHL debut as a Thrasher on April 10th against the Pittsburgh Penguins after his 2011 season finished in Sweden. That game ended up being the last game that the Thrashers would play in Atlanta before relocating to Winnipeg.
The 20-year-old reported to the Winnipeg Jets training camp in the fall and played in three pre-season games before he was assigned to the St. John’s IceCaps.
Klingberg scored his first goal as an IceCap in their season opener on October 7, 2011, a 4-1 victory over the Providence Bruins.
He also scored the IceCaps first goal on home ice, and added another two for a hat trick in the IceCaps 6–2 win over the Hamilton Bulldogs. Two days later, he tallied a pair of goals in a 4–3 win over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
