Slater, 29, moved into a key role for the Jets this season, centering the team’s third-line checking unit with Chris Thorburn and Tanner Glass. Embraced by Winnipeg fans, the line has been affectionately dubbed the GST Line.

In terms of dedication and perseverance, Slater played in a career-high 78 games with the Jets this season. The 2002 first-round draft pick earned 21 points (13G, 8A) along with 42 penalty minutes. Slater was also the recipient of the Staffmax Community Service Award after his first season with the Winnipeg Jets.
