The Breakdown: Pavelec\'s Feb 21 Save
The point shot from Flyers defenceman Kimmo Timmonen briefly gets lost in the maze of bodies parked in front of Ondrej Pavelec. Pavelec goes down on the right side of the crease to make the initial stop, but the puck bounces out to his left. Jakub Voracek is there ready to pounce and he swats at the puck. Pavelec makes an incredible diving save and snatches the puck out of mid air, robbing the Flyers of a sure goal.

THE BREAKDOWN:

The point shot from Flyers defenceman Kimmo Timmonen briefly gets lost in the maze of bodies parked in front of Ondrej Pavelec. Pavelec goes down on the right side of the crease to make the initial stop, but the puck bounces out to his left. Jakub Voracek is there ready to pounce and he swats at the puck. Pavelec makes an incredible diving save and snatches the puck out of mid air, robbing the Flyers of a sure goal.

THE BROADCASTERS:

“What a save! Unbelievable stop right there by Ondrej Pavelec!” - Brian Munz, TSN Radio 1290

“Wow! They had an empty net to poke that rebound in and Pavelec came from the right side of the net and he dives over to make this save.” - Shane Hnidy, TSN Radio 1290

THE PLAYERS:

“He’s been playing like that the whole year. It’s pretty spectacular but I don’t think we’re too surprised by it. There are a lot of pucks that go towards the net that not a lot of goalies would be able to stop, but he’s so athletic he is able to make the save.” - Evander Kane

“Some of the saves he made were tough. I went up to him after the game and you could tell how frustrated he was; it’s obviously not his fault.” - Tim Stapleton

“He was excellent, he gave us a chance to win, and I feel bad for him because we spoiled a great performance on his part, and I’m sure he’s frustrated.” - Andrew Ladd

THE COACH:

“Pavelec was unbelievable! Say what you want, but you can win championships with goaltending like that. I was very impressed.” - Claude Noel
