Development Camp: Day 2
It\'s day two of the 2012 Winnipeg Jets development camp. Things got started here at the MTS IcePlex with group A on the ice at 9:30am for a 75 minute session. Mark Scheifele, Jacob Trouba, Carl Klingberg, Zach Redmond and goaltender Chris Carrozzi were a few notables in the first group.

It's day two of the 2012 Winnipeg Jets development camp. Things got started here at the MTS IcePlex with group A on the ice at 9:30am for a 75 minute session. Mark Scheifele, Jacob Trouba, Carl Klingberg, Zach Redmond and goaltender Chris Carrozzi were a few notables in the first group.

At 24-years old, Redmond is now into his fifth year of attending NHL camps. He told media after his skate this morning that although he feels a lot more comfortable with the organization and the overall camp experience, he still gets nervous from time to time.

"I was telling Trouba just yesterday that I remember my first year," said Redmond. "I told him, it's my fifth year but you still kind of have those nerves. You want to make a good impression, but, some nerves are good."

The drills that the players practiced were a lot of cone drills testing their agility, speed and most importantly, their stick-handling skills. They finished things off with a shooting spree shootout practice. The guys really looked like they were having a lot of fun today with high-fives, back-pats and smiles all around.

The second group took to the ice at 11:00am for their session. A few notables in this group were Cody Sol, Jason Gregoire, Adam Lowry, and Zach Yuen.

Yuen, a fourth round pick (119th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, says he's feeling a lot more comfortable this time around and feels he is that much closer after another successful season with the Tri-City Americans (WHL) to making the jump into the professional level.

"My ultimate goal is to make the Jets one day," said Yuen. "Junior hockey is just a step towards reaching that goal. The WHL is a really good development league, one of the best in the world. It's a good stepping stone and it helps you develop the character and the skills to become a pro hockey player and I think I'm taking that in stride."

"It's good to be able to meet the other prospects and personally a good chance for me to get better and show the Jets management what I can do."

After the ice-sessions were complete, the players enjoyed a healthy lunch followed by a media session with a handful of local media. They then hit the road back to the MTS Centre where they would do their off-ice workouts.

Following their afternoon workout, the players had one more meeting to sit in on which was with a guest nutritionist. The nutritionist is here to talk about how to eat properly and ensure they are feeding their bodies enough of all of the food groups and the right combination of vitamins, supplements and essential nutrients. These young players must learn how to eat properly, and prepare themselves to become professionals.

Well that was it for day two of the Jets development camp. The players head back to their hotels to get some rest to get ready for another day in the life of a hockey player.
