The St. John’s IceCaps, in conjunction with the American Hockey League, announced the release of its 2012-2013 regular season schedule.

The IceCaps, proud AHL affiliate of the Winnipeg Jets, are set to begin their second season on Saturday, October 13 against the Springfield Falcons at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Massachusetts.

The club returns to St. John’s for its home opener on Friday, October 19 at Mile One Centre against the Adirondack Phantoms, marking the first-ever meeting between the two teams. Of the IceCaps’ 38 home games, 28 will take place on weekends, including 10 on Fridays and 14 on Saturdays. Four games are scheduled for Sunday afternoons. Of the remaining 10 home dates, five each will take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

St. John’s will welcome Canadian rival the Hamilton Bulldogs to Mile One on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 20 and 21, and again on Friday and Saturday, March 15 and 16. The Toronto Marlies visit on Friday and Saturday, January 11 and 12 and again on Friday and Saturday, April 5 and 6.

The regular season concludes on Sunday, April 21 as the IceCaps take on the Marlies at Ricoh Coliseum in the second game of a two-game series.

The longest homestand for St. John’s is six games (five times) while the lengthiest road trip is eight games, from December 16-31. The IceCaps’ busiest month of the season is November, during which the club will play 14 contests, including eight away from home.

Game time for all home games is 7:30 pm NST, with the exception of the four Sunday contests which begin at 4:00 pm.
