Training Camp: Day 2
Day two of this quick six-day training camp wrapped up Monday afternoon after the team took to the ice with the coaching staff for two hours. The lines today were the same as yesterday\'s skate. These lines are not in stone and may change as the week goes on, but they looked something like this:
Day two of this quick six-day training camp wrapped up Monday afternoon after the team took to the ice with the coaching staff for two hours. The lines today were the same as yesterday's skate. These lines are not in stone and may change as the week goes on, but they looked something like this:

Andrew Ladd- Bryan Little- Blake Wheeler
Evander Kane- Olli Jokinen- Kyle Wellwood
Alexei Ponikarovsky- Alexander Burmistrov- Antti Miettinen
Mark Scheifele- Jim Slater- Chris Thorburn
Maxime Macenauer- Spencer Machacek

Claude Noel on the Kane, Jokinen and ...possible Wellwood line:

"They both play with speed," said Noel during his press conference. (Kane and Jokinen) "they both play a North-South game, they both like to shoot and they both like offense and in my opinion, they are reliable defensively. I like Jokinen, who, I don't know very much, but I've done some research. I liked him today in a lot of ways. It seems like he's been well coached in the last couple of years and it shows.

"To me, Kaner came a long way from the first game last year to even a month into the season, he made some big strides. For them, the way they play suits each other. I have to allow for some chemistry to take place as long as they aren't losing sight of their checking roles. The third guy is the guy who will be the glue and that's what you have to find. Is it Kyle Wellwood? He's a smart player, he's the passer, so it's pretty hard to ignore what potentially they can do."

With Zach Bogosian still out of the lineup due to injury, Mark Stuart was playing with Ron Hainsey.
TheD-pairings looked like this:

Dustin Byfuglien- Tobias Enstrom
Mark Stuart- Ron Hainsey
Paul Postma- Grant Clitsome
Derek Meech- Zach Redmond

"Mark (Stuart) plays a sincere game," said Noel. "You get what you get with Mark and it's pretty consistent, you don't see a lot of differences there. He just has to be able to execute simple plays and play his hard, passionate game and check, and I'll be helping him do that."

Nik Antropov did not skate again today as he did not pass his medical tests on the weekend. He has an upper body injury and the doctors will continue to assess him this week. He is questionable to play in the season opener against the Ottawa Senators next Saturday.

Jets newest Assistant Coach, Perry Pearn took the lead in today's skate running drills and trying out his coaching technique for the first time. Coach Noel had nothing but positive things to say about Pearn and his style of coaching and feels that he will be able to help in a number of areas that needed it last year.

"Perry has coached a long time. I don't know that we have a lot of differences. He brings a lot of detail, he's a very good coach. I can see that when I talk to him in the summer time when I interviewed with him. Well respected and he has a lot of good tactical areas that I'd be a fool not to use. He has a lot to offer here."
