The Jets host the Tampa Bay Lightning Sunday night before hitting the road for a pair.

PRE-GAME NOTES

The Winnipeg Jets (16-14-2) play three of their next four games against Southeast Division opponents beginning with the Tampa Bay Lightning (13-16-1)* on Sunday. The Jets have played the Lightning twice this season. Both games were in Tampa Bay, and each had a decidedly different outcome. On Feb. 1 the Lightning stormed out of the gate scoring the first six goals en route to an 8-3 win. On Mar. 7 the Jets won a defensive struggle by a score of 2-1 on Bryan Little’s winner with under five minutes to play in regulation time. Since these clubs last saw each other, the Jets have gone 5-3-1, but have dropped their last two. The Lightning, on the other hand, have gone 3-4-0 following their last date with the Jets. The final meeting between these clubs will also be in Winnipeg, on Apr. 16.

Starting Lineup: Bryan Little, Andrew Ladd, Blake Wheeler, Tobias Enstrom, Dustin Byfuglien and Ondrej Pavelec in net.

FIRST PERIOD

14:02: JETS GOAL: Bryan Little got the Jets on the board late in the opening period after he scooped up a loose puck on a broken play in the slot and wristed one over Cedrick Desjardins. Blake Wheeler picked up his 13th assist on Little's fifth goal of the season. 1-0 Jets.

Little's ends streak of 5 in a row of @NHLJets allowing first goal. 10-4-1 when they take early lead. @TBLightning 2-13-1 the other way            @KellyMooreCJOB
Through 20 minutes, the Jets led the Bolts 1-0 but Tampa Bay held the edge in shots 12-8.

Clitsome led all Jets with 7:56 TOI. Bogosian, Byfuglien and Enstrom all logged 7:50.            @pwilliamsNHL

SECOND PERIOD

2:35: JETS GOAL: Dustin Byfuglien added to the lead picking up a power play goal with Tyler Johnson in the box for tripping. Blake Wheeler sent a cross-ice feed to Byfuglien at the top of the left circle. He got into position and blasted a wrister that beat Desjardins. Bryan Little picked up the second assist on Byfuglien's sixth of the year.

6:20: BOLTS GOAL: Steven Stamkos scores his 22nd of the season, 7 seconds into a Bolts power play with Chris Thorburn in the box for kneeing. Martin St.Louis sent him a nice feed from the top of the circle and he made no mistake firing it past Pavelec. 2-1 Bolts.

9:35: JETS GOAL: Tobias Enstrom goes top-shelf on Desjardins for his third of the season after Andrew Ladd connected with him all alone in the slot to flip up and into the net. Little picks up his third point of the night on Enstrom's goal.

Bryan Little has three points tonight. You could say he has been Bryan Big tonight. @IllegalCurve            @ICEzzyG

Through 40 minutes of play, the Jets were leading the Lightning 3-1 and the shots read 19-17 in favour of Tampa Bay. The Jets did have a healthy lead in the hits column, leading 24-15.

It's 3-1 #NHLJets through two periods over TB Lightning. Lightning have had enough good chances to be tied or ahead. Pavelec stellar            @Ted_Wyman

THIRD PERIOD

5:01: BOLTS GOAL:Cory Conacher pulls the Lightning within one on 4-on-4 play as he sent a redirection past Pavelec from Eric Brewer's point shot. 3-2 Jets. Nate Thompson draws the second helper.

@NHLJets surrender first 4 on 4 goal this season on tip by @TBLightning Thompson to cut lead to 3-2 at 5:01            @KellyMooreCJOB

@NHLJets We are closing in a minute left in the 3rd and a Go Jets Go chant is ringing thru MTS. Bolts pull goalie.            @IllegalCurve

The Lightning putting pressure on in the final minutes of regulation trying to tie things up but couldn't solve Pavelec to pull even and the Jets take a 3-2 final victory in their home barn.
