Andrew Ladd joins Team Canada for 2013 IIHF Men's World Championship
The Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club is proud to announce that Jets Captain Andrew Ladd will join the 2013 Canadian Men’s National Team. The team will compete at the International Ice Hockey Federation Men’s World Championship May 3-19, 2013 in Helsinki, Finland and Stockholm, Sweden.
Ladd, 27, played in all 48 games for the Winnipeg Jets this season. In that time, the Maple Ridge, BC native lead the Jets with 46 points (18G, 28A) and 22 penalty minutes. He lead the team in both points and assists, and tied the team lead in game winning goals with four. This past season, Ladd recorded his 300th NHL point on April 18th versus Carolina and was named NHL ‘First Star’ for the week of April 21, 2013.
Ladd was part of the Team Canada’s gold medal squad at the 2005 World Junior Championships in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He played in the 2011 IIHF World Championship in Slovakia where he appeared in seven games for two points.
Ladd has also won two Stanley Cups with the Carolina Hurricanes (2006) and Chicago Blackhawks (2010). He has played in 532 career NHL games between Carolina, Chicago, Atlanta and Winnipeg for 304 points (138G, 166A) and 305 penalty minutes.
He was originally drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in the first round, fourth overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
