- Assistant captain for the gold medal winning U-18 team at the 2012 Ivan Hlinka tournament in Russia.
- Horvat helped lead the Knights to an OHL Championship and the icing on the cake was his impressive Game 7 performance of the OHL Finals. He tallied a pair of goals to propel the Knights to a 3-2 victory over the Barrie Colts. One of those goals was the game-winner with just one second left in regulation.

Horvat and the London Knights have appeared in the last two Memorial Cup Championships and are set to host the tournament in 2014 which will make that his third consecutive attempt to add the trophy to his resume. In 2012, Shawinigan Cataractes defeated the London Knights 2–1 in overtime to win the Memorial Cup. This past May, the London Knights fell 2-1 to the Portland Winterhawks, in the semi-final game.
"It was an honour to get back there for two years in a row, not too many kids can say that," said Horvat. "This year was really good experience, I had a bigger role than the year before. There was a lot of great talent out there with Halifax and Portland and Saskatoon. I thought it was a good learning experience and something that we can take going into next year."
