Jets: Kane-Jokinen-Frolik, Bogosian-Clitsome and Pasquale in goal.

Oilers: Smid-Larsen-Eager-Acton-Brown and Dubnyk in goal.

FIRST PERIOD

3:47: Grant Clitsome takes the game's first penalty of the night for tripping, sending the Oilers to their first power play.

9:20: Andrew Gordon takes a minor for charging putting the Oilers back on the power play.

9:44: Boyd Gordon negates the power play for his team as he heads off for interference. 4-on-4.

#NHLJets F Adam Lowry looks like a guy making up for lost time after missing much of training camp with injury. A few big hits, skating well   @WiebeSunSports

10:24: The early penalty problems continue as Evander Kane heads off for hooking.

11:42: Tyler Fedun takes a hooking minor as the exchanges of penalties continue in the first period.

14:24: Ladislav Smid heads off for roughing on Chris Thorburn...and again...the Jets go back on the power play, for the third time this period.

19:02: JETS GOAL: With under a minute to play in the opening period, Chris Thorburn throws a fluttering puck from just inside the circle that hit the stick of goaltender Devan Dubnyk and into the back of the net. 1-0 Jets.

Moments later, Evander Kane connected with a nice cross-ice play and found himself half a step ahead of his check. On the partial breakaway, he deked to one side bringing Dubnyk across but just the shot just trickled wide and stayed out. The buzzer rang on the opening period with the Jets up by a goal.

Shots through 20 minutes were 8-7 in favour of the Jets.

SECOND PERIOD

2:40: OILERS GOAL: Jesse Joensuu evens the score at 1-1 with his third of the pre-season. Mark Arcobello sent a shot from the boards that found Joensuu and slipped past Pasquale. 1-1 game.

3:03: Mark Stuart takes a slashing minor putting the Oilers on their fourth power play of the game.

I like how Noel has been using Evander Kane often on the Penalty Kill during the preseason.  @ICEzzyG

9:22: OILERS GOAL: Will Acton puts the Oilers on top for the first time in the game as he redirects a point shot from Anton Belov. Oilers up 2-1.

11:02: Olli Jokinen takes an interference penalty as the penalty trouble continues into the middle frame here.

12:32: Patrice Cormier puts the Oilers on a 5-on-3 power play for 30 seconds.

13:31: Mark Arcobello takes a tripping minor putting things back on 4-on-4 play.

16:29: Nick Schultz off for holding. Jets to their fifth power play.

Two unanswered goals in the second period and the Oilers have a 2-1 lead over the Jets. Shots on goal are 19-17 in favour of the Oilers.

For those wondering, D Jacob Trouba has played 15:07 of ice time thru 40 minutes at Rexall Place, 2nd only to Zach Bogosian (16:56).  @WiebeSunSports

THIRD PERIOD

0:55: Larsen takes a two minute tripping penalty putting the Jets on an early power play. The Jets only registered one shot on net and now they are 0 for 6 on the power play tonight.

8:31: Evander Kane and Mike Brown each take minors for roughing close to the midway mark of the final period, Oilers still up 2-1.

13:17: Oilers Nick Schultz took a hooking minor but 14 seconds later (13:29) Jets' Jacob Trouba took a high-sticking penalty putting things back on 4-on-4.

Shots are 9-2 for in this period but Oilers are holding on.  @Ted_Wyman

19 blocked and 15 missed shots for the Jets tonight with 63 total attempted shots.

The Oilers would go on to take this game 2-1 in their home barn but the Jets will be back for season opener on October 1st.

Jets next pre-season game goes Thursday night back at the MTS Centre against the Boston Bruins. Game time is 6:30 pm CST.
