Prospect Report - Nov. 7
Winnipeg Jets Prospect Report
Week of October 28 - November 3, 2013
Josh Morrissey, D – Prince Albert Raiders (WHL)
On the same night the Prince Albert Raiders raised Mike Modano’s number 9 to the rafters, their current captain Josh Morrissey had his own memorable night compiling a goal and three assists to help his team win 7-1 over the Regina Pats. Morrissey now has 20 points (6G, 14A) in 16 games played this season, which ranks him second in scoring among WHL defenceman.
Jason Jaffray, LW – St. John’s IceCaps (AHL)
IceCaps captain Jason Jaffray led his team to back-to-back wins in Portland, posting a goal and an assist in both road wins. The 32-year-old led his teammates in scoring last week with four points in three games. He now has 10 points (5G, 5A) in 12 games this season, just one point shy of the team lead held by Eric O’Dell. Jaffray’s goal on Nov. 1 at Portland (4-2 W) was scored while shorthanded.
Eric Comrie, G – Tri-City Americans (WHL)
Safe to say that Eric Comrie is one of the busiest goaltenders in junior hockey. The Tri-City Americans goalie has faced a WHL-leading 591 shots against in 18 games this season. Through it all, he’s holding a .927 save percentage and 2.43 goals against average. He’s been at the top of his game over the last two weeks, going 4-0-1 with a .946 save percentage and 1.55 goals against average.
Nicolas Petan, C – Portland Winterhawks (WHL)
The Winterhawks ace playmaker Nicolas Petan collected six more assists last week, including helpers on all three Portland goals in a 3-1 win on Nov. 2 versus Spokane. Winnipeg’s recent second-round pick is on an 11-game assist streak stretching from Oct. 12 to Nov. 2. Over that span, Petan has recorded 19 assists. He has 27 assists in 18 games to lead the WHL this season.
Eddie Pasquale, G – St. John’s IceCaps (AHL)
The IceCaps couldn’t have asked for more from their goaltender last weekend as Eddie Pasquale posted three solid games over three days on the road. Pasquale and the IceCaps won two of their three games, with the goaltender holding a 1.68 goals against average and .952 save percentage. The Portland Pirates had the most difficulty solving Pasquale over two games failing to score on nine power play attempts and scoring just three times on 74 shots.
