Week of November 11-17, 2013

Scott Kosmachuk, RW – Guelph Storm (OHL)

Winger Scott Kosmachuk recorded four points in a game for the third time this season scoring a hat trick and an assist on Nov. 16 versus Peterborough. On the week, Kosmachuk had four goals and a pair of assists boosting his season totals to 36 points (18G, 18A) in 22 games. His current goal total puts him three off the pace from the OHL’s leading scorers.

Michael Hutchinson, G – Ontario Reign (ECHL)

Appearing in all five games in a busy seven‐day stretch for Ontario, Michael Hutchinson finished the week with four wins and one shootout loss improving his season record to 7‐0‐2. Hutchinson leads all ECHL goaltenders with a .940 save percentage and ranks second in goals against average at 1.75. His most impressive performance last week may have been the shootout loss, in which Hutchinson stopped 38 of 40 shots in regulation before the Reign were edged in the shootout.

Nicolas Petan, C – Portland Winterhawks (WHL)

The Jets recent second round pick Nicolas Petan continued his pursuit of the WHL’s leading scorer by compiling eight points (2G, 6A) in three games last week. Now with 48 points (13G, 35A), Petan trails Spokane’s Mitch Holmberg by seven points. The Delta, B.C. native had a pair of three‐point games last week helping the Winterhawks to a 10‐2 win over Seattle on Nov. 14, followed by a 7‐3 win in Kamloops on Nov. 16.

Connor Hellebuyck, G – UMass‐Lowell River Hawks (Hockey East)

Sophomore keeper Connor Hellebuyck had an often dominant freshman season recording six shutouts in 24 games as a 19‐year‐old. As a sophomore, Hellebuyck has continued his strong play earning a 1.89 goals against average and .938 save percentage through seven games. The Michigan product also earned his first shutout last week posting a 37‐save effort on Penn State in a 4‐0 win.

Andrew Copp, C – Michigan Wolverines (Big Ten)

The Maize and Blue have quickly established themselves a powerhouse in the newly formed Big Ten conference. Michigan has a 7‐2‐1 record through 10 games, competing with Minnesota at the top of the standings. Leading the Wolverines is Jets fourth‐rounder Andrew Copp who paces his team with 10 points (5G, 5A) in 10 games.
