John Albert, C – St. John’s IceCaps (AHL)
John Albert was recognized by the AHL for his excellent play over the last seven days earning AHL Player of the Week honours for his output of five goals and one assist during the IceCaps’ current four‐game winning streak. The Ohio native has been piling up goals lately scoring nine over the last eight games, which includes an astonishing five shorthanded goals over that span. Through the month of February, Albert’s shooting percentage sits at 36.0% with nine goals scored on 25 shots.
Scott Kosmachuk, LW – Guelph Storm (OHL)
The leading scorer of the Guelph Storm, Scott Kosmachuk, is have a productive month of February and continued that with a recent three‐point game on Feb. 17 versus Plymouth. Kosmachuk has 16 points (6G, 10A) and a +13 rating in nine games this month. The left winger sits among the OHL’s leaders in plus/minus at +39.
Kyle MacKinnon, C – St. John’s IceCaps (AHL)
Centre Kyle MacKinnon went off the charts with nine points (3G, 6A) in four games last week, helping the St. John’s IceCaps carry a four‐game winning streak through the remainder of a six‐game road swing. MacKinnon had multiple points in each victory last week, recording a season‐best three‐point night in a 3‐1 win on Feb. 22 in Worcester. The native Californian has kept a point per game pace since last month collecting 15 points (4G, 11A) over the last 14 games.
Josh Morrissey, D – Prince Albert Raiders (WHL)
Winnipeg’s first round pick in 2013 is carrying an impressive point streak through the month of
February. WHL defenceman Josh Morrissey has at least one point in all 11 games he’s played this month, totaling 17 points (5G, 12A) over that span. He posted another six points (1G, 5A) last week as the Raiders went 3‐1‐0.
Michael Hutchinson, G – St. John’s IceCaps (AHL)
The IceCaps incumbent starter since losing Eddie Pasquale to a season‐ending injury has been Michael Hutchinson. And ‘Hutch’ has answered the bell sporting a 10‐4‐1 record in IceCaps colours this season. The soon to be 24‐year‐old netminder recorded wins in each of his three starts last week with an especially impressive 49‐save effort on Feb. 22 in Worcester. Hutchinson allowed only one goal on 50 shots in the 3‐1 victory.
