Jets 2, Rangers 4
QUOTE OF THE GAME:
"It reminds me of the start of the season when we couldn't finish teams off and we couldn't play with a lead. That's what we had tonight, a good opportunity that we let slip away from us."
- Bryan Little
The Jets head out for their final road trip of the season, facing the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday, March 30. Watch the game on TSN Jets or listen to TSN Radio 1290. Game time is 6:00 PM.
Things started off great as the Jets went up a pair of goals in the second period against the New York Rangers but the Jets saw first hand that you can never count out a team like the Rangers out, as they came back to take a 4-2 final Wednesday night.
"The disappointing part of the game for me really lied in the power play and special teams," said coach Claude Noel after the game. "The turning point of the game was really that shorthanded goal that we gave up because they didn't have a lot of life but they got a lot of life after that and made it 2-1. That really let them back into it, got some life and took over it from there.
"Our power play was not very cohesive and we didn't execute the five-on-three very good either."
The Rangers power play was excellent despite being 27th in the league for road power plays. They scored a crucial short handed goal and a pair of power play goals to help seal the victory.
The Jets threw 24 shots on net but the Rangers also blocked an additional 24 shots. Ondrej Pavelec
turned aside 24 of the 28 shots he saw.
The Jets will hit the road tomorrow for their last road trip of the season starting in Carolina against the Hurricanes on Friday night. Catch tonight's game on TSN at 6:00 pm

dangled around the circle trying to find an open body in front. Little planted himself in front of Lundqvist and waited for the pass from Wheeler. He redirected the pass right into the back of the net to make it 2-0.
The Rangers answered back shorthanded at 7:44 as Michael Del Zotto stole the puck from behind the Jets net and wrapped around to put it past Pavelec, back-door. Ryan Callahan with the assist.
Callahan tied things up with under two minutes to play on the power play. Marian Gaborik took a shot from the circle that Pavelec kicked out but it hit a Jet's foot in front and landed on Callahan's stick and he snapped it across the line.
After forty minutes, the Jets and Rangers were tied 2-2 and tied 19-19 in shots. The Rangers will start the third period on the power play. 2:52 still remains on Andrew Ladd
's double-minor high sticking penalty.
Right after the Jets finished killing off the double-minor, Brian Boyle gave the Rangers their first lead of the game. He carried the puck out from behind the net, wrapped it around the post and squeezed it past Pavelec. 3-2 Rangers at 3:07 of the final frame.
Minutes later, Tanner Glass
dropped the gloves with Stu Bickel trying to send a spark to his teammates and get the fans on their feet.
Derek Stepan widened the gap on the power play with Alexander Burmistrov
in the box for holding at 10:06. Marian Gaborik sent a nice cross-ice feed onto the tape of Stepan, who blasted a wrist-shot that flew over Pavelec's shoulder.
