JETS (4-5-2) at STARS (4-5-0)
TV: CBC, TXA 21
Last 10: Winnipeg 3-5-2
Season series: This will be the second game between the new Central Division foes this season. The Dallas Stars won 4-1 Oct. 11 thanks to Tyler Seguin's four points. This is the first of two games to be played at American Airlines Center.
Big story: The Stars, who are 3-1-0 at home, are in search of their second two-game winning streak of the season, while the Winnipeg Jets look to end a three-game losing streak.
Jets: The Jets battled back from two one-goal deficits but lost 3-2 in overtime to the Nashville Predators on Thursday when Dustin Byfuglien failed to clear the zone, leading to Craig Smith's winner with 17 seconds remaining.
"The big task is for our team to be consistent through 60 minutes, at least 40 of it, and I don't know if we can continue to play in spurts, which is what we are doing," Jets coach Claude Noel said.
Anthony Peluso scored his first NHL goal, but his happiness was tempered by the loss.
"It [stinks] there that we lost in OT but we'll try to take as many positives from the game as we can," he said.
Since starting the season 2-0, the Jets have gone 2-5-2. Winnipeg entered the weekend fourth in the League with 32.6 shots per game but those shots haven't translated to success as they rank 20th in goals per game (2.46).
Stars: Coming off of a two-game weekend road trip in which the Stars lost to the Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks by three goals each, Dallas responded in a big way Thursday at home by beating the Calgary Flames 5-1.
"Obviously after a tough road trip we wanted to come out here and be strong at home and come out with a good start. I thought our goalie played great [Thursday] and we got a big two points," said Stars captain Jamie Benn, who had two goals.
The Stars scored three goals in 61 seconds midway through the second period to put the game away, and Kari Lehtonen, who hadn't played since Oct. 11 due to a lower-body injury, made 28 saves to earn the win.
"Kari is a big part of this team and he definitely made some great saves [Thursday]," Benn said. "It didn't look like he missed a beat out there."
Who's hot: Jets captain Andrew Ladd has four assists in the past two games. … Benn has a five-game point streak (two goals, five assists), and has points in seven of nine games this season.
Injury report: The Stars are fielding a healthy roster. … Winnipeg will be without Chris Thorburn (lower body) and Jacob Trouba (upper body); both are on IR. Jim Slater missed the game Thursday against the Predators with an undisclosed injury.
