The Winnipeg Jets threw 28 shots at Lightning goaltender Dwayne Roloson but he had a solution for each one as the Jets fell 1-0 to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Vincent Lecavalier was the lone goal scorer as he tallied the game's only goal with 40 seconds to play in the second period on the power play.

Strong goaltending at both ends of the ice proved to be the difference in the tilt tonight with just one goal on the board.

The Jets will shift to Florida to face the Panthers on Monday night. Game time is 6:30 pm.

The Jets broke out of the gates with energy and intensity creating traffic in front of Dwayne Roloson, getting shots on net and creating chances. The visitors were handed the first power play of the night at 9:59 of the opening period with Dominik Moore in the box for goaltender interference but were unable to convert on the opportunity.

Ondrej Pavelec kept the game scoreless later in the period robbing Lightning star Steven Stamkos on a 2-on-1 opportunity.

The Lightning were given a power play opportunity before the period expired as Tobias Enstrom went off for tripping but couldn't solve Pavelec.

The game remained scoreless after 20 minutes of play thanks to strong goaltending at both ends. Shots favoured the home team 11-10.

Nothing but great goaltending to speak of through the first half of the second frame. Pavelec pulling out all the stops to keep his squad in the game.

The Lightning's best chance of the period came at 8:17 with Ryan Shannon breaking in on a 2-on-1 with Adam Hall. Shannon connected on a cross-ice pass from Hall and snapped a hard wrist shot on net. Pavelec robbed Shannon to keep the game scoreless.

On the other end of the ice with 6:49 to play in the period, Roloson robbed Evander Kane as he charged the Lightning zone and threw a backhander on net. Roloson just got a piece of it and kicked it away to keep the game scoreless.

The Lightning finally found the back of the net with 40 seconds remaining in the second period. Vincent Lecavalier was able to bury a power play goal from a tough angle in the corner from Stamkos and Brewer to give the home team a 1-0 lead.

After 40 minutes, the Lightning were on top 1-0 and led 24-17 on the shot clock.

The Jets put the pressure on in the third period playing with a sense of urgency. Roloson seemed to have an answer for every rush, every shot and every play the Jets came up with.

They came close as time wound down on regulation as Andrew Ladd and Bryan Little were inches away from tying the game but Roloson was there again to turn the puck away and keep his team on top.

Great goaltending on both ends of the ice tonight proved to be the difference as the Tampa Bay Lightning walked away with the 1-0 victory at home.  Shots after 60 minutes was 28-27 in favour of the Jets.
