Evander Kane tallied a pair of goals on Senators netminder Craig Anderson tonight, but Ottawa prevailed to a 6-4 victory Tuesday night at the MTS Centre.

Ondrej Pavelec turned aside 28 of 33 shots on net tonight in the loss while Anderson stopped 39 of 43 to pick up his 11th win on the season.

Both Milan Michalek and Zack Smith scored twice for the Senators in the win, taking home the second and third stars of the night

The Jets will look to Thursday when they welcome Shane Doan and the Phoenix Coyotes.

Catch the game live at 7:30 pm on TSN Jets or on TSN 1290.

FIRST PERIOD

Jason Spezza, picked up the game's first penalty, getting the gate for slashing at 3:13 of the first period. The Jets couldn't seem to get anything going on the first man advantage. Spezza nearly made it 1-0 as he scooped up the puck coming out of the box, raced across the blueline and into the Jets zone. He fired a wrist shot from a sharp angle that just caught Pavelec's stick and the game remained scoreless.

Shots at the midway mark of the period were 7-6 Jets.

Milan Michalek got the Senators on the board first from Daniel Alfredsson, at 15:55 of the first period. Alfredsson was able to get the puck across the blueline onto Michalek's stick who squeezed past his d-men, and fired the puck over Pavelec's glove to make it 1-0. Michalek's goal marked his 300th career point.

After 20 minutes of play, the Jets led 14-12 on the shotclock, but trailed 1-0.

SECOND PERIOD

A little confusion down low in front of Sens netminder Anderson, allowed Bryan Little to steal the puck away from Alfredsson. Little fed Blake Wheeler who was wide open to right of the net. He fired the puck over a sprawling Anderson to tie the game 1-1 at 7:06 into the second frame.

The Jets later took a 2-1 lead at 15:07. Tanner Glass made a nice hit along the boards behind Anderson and came away with the puck. He dished it over to Alexander Burmistrov in the corner who banked the puck off of Anderson and into the back of the net.

35 seconds later, the Sens tied the game after a scramble in front of the net resulted in Zack Smith firing the puck over the arm of Pavelec. 2-2.

Then with 44 seconds left on the clock, Michalek tipped in his second of the night on a Chris Phillips shot from the top of the circle. The perfect redirect put the Senators up 3-2 heading into the third period.

THIRD PERIOD

Evander Kane evened the score again for the Jets just 1:24 of the third period. Zach Bogosian blasted a slapshot from the right point that Anderson turned aside. Kane was there to grab the loose puck and snap it past Anderson into the open net making it 3-3.

Kane worked off his momentum and gave the Jets their second lead of the game scoring his second of the game and 12th of the season at 2:41. Flood and Little drew the helpers on the Jets fourth goal.

The Senators answered back as Jason Spezza tied things up at 9:35. Karlsson sent a nice cross-ice pass to Spezza to the left of Pavelec. Spezza sent a bullet over Pavelec stick side, who was just a split second late sliding across his crease trying to make the save. 4-4 midway through the final frame.

The visitors took the lead back on the power play with Johnny Oduya in the box. Sergei Gonchar made a nice pass over to Smith who snapped a shot that made it through traffic and past Pavelec to make it 5-4.

Nick Foligno added the insurance goal firing one into the empty net with 1:08 left in regulation.

Time would expire on the game as the Senators took the two points by a score of 6-4.
